EMDR Therapy

EMDR therapy is a powerful technique for the treatment of trauma, PTSD, and anxiety. It has been shown to "light up" the neural networks in the brain, enhancing the brain’s ability to access and process traumatic memories. This can help resolve trauma more effectively than talk therapy alone, and helps transform negative beliefs about the self and the world into more positive ones.

Recent findings are showing that EMDR is just as effective online as in-person. Originally discovered through a left-right pattern of eye movements, the core element of the EMDR protocol is referred to as “bilateral stimulation.”  A wide range of choices exist for bilateral stimulation, including visual, auditory, and tactile methods. These methods are equally effective and are delivered online in much the same way as they have been utilized in the office.

As we get started, you'll have an opportunity to choose the method that works best for you. Most people prefer the tactile method of self-tapping. A range of EMDR-based smartphone apps and hand-held devices, which can deliver tapping sensations or facilitate eye movement, can also be recommended.
